Far Eastern University forced a do-or-die match for a spot in the Finals.
Far Eastern University recovered from a dismal first set performance and lived to fight another day with a 22-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-20, win over University of Sto. Tomas Saturday to even the best-of-three Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference Final Four series at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Tamaraws forced a decider on Sunday and snapped a two-game losing skid against old rival Tigresses including a four-set loss in the series opener three days ago.
“‘Yung execution ng game plan namin na-excute namin ng maayos. Yung service receive namin this game ang taas ng percentage kaya naka-penetrate kami,” said FEU coach George Pascua.
Celine Domingo showed the way for FEU, which opened the first set with a 9-0 blitz only to see the Tigresses steal the frame, with 19 points anchored on nine attacks, six kill blocks and four aces while Jerrili Malabanan scored all of her 17 points on attacks.
Kyle Negrito had 26 excellent sets on top of 12 points while rookie Lycha Ebon submitted 10 for the Lady Tamaraws.
Milena Alessandrini was the lone UST player in double digits with 13 points.
Rookie EJ Laure was limited to only six points while Tin Francisco and Ysabel Jimenez combined for 15 markers for the Espana-based squad.
