Isa Molde showed the way for University of the Philippines to clinch a breakthrough Finals appearance.
University of the Philippines hitter Isa Molde picked the best time to snap out of her scoring funk.
After averaging only 8.5 points in the first two games of their Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference best-of-three semifinals against top seed Adamson University, Molde came out smoking Sunday to lead the Lady Maroons to the championship round.
The incoming fourth-year player was lights out on offense as she uncorked 27 points in UP’s Finals seat-clinching 25-19, 29-27, 20-25, 25-20, semis Game 3 win at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
“Super importante kasi, siyempre gusto namin manalo at kailangan namin ilabas 'yung laro namin talaga,” said Molde, who had 23 kills and four kill blocks.
The UAAP Season 78 rookie of the year went quiet on offense in the Lady Maroons’ first two games including a dry eight-point performance in UP’s straight sets defeat in Game 2 last Saturday that forced a series do-or-die.
“Kahapon kasi parang masyado naming minadali 'yung laro namin tapos nawala kami sa laro namin,” said Molde.
The open spiker was quick to give credit to her teammates, who according to her motivated her to step up.
“Siguro, with the help of my teammates, mamo-motivate ka sa pagka-hardworking nila and kung paano nila i-enjoy every game, every point,” she said.
The Lady Maroons forged a best-of-three Finals showdown with Far Eastern University starting Sunday.
