Far Eastern University completed a come-from-behind win over Adamson University in the battle for third.
Far Eastern University saw an opening in the closing stretch of the third set and made Adamson University pay dearly to move within a win of salvaging a bronze medal finish in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference men’s division.
The Tamaraws scaled a two-set deficit before making the Falcons pay with a come-from-behind, 20-25, 23-25, 29-27, 25-16, 15-10, win Sunday in Game 1 of the best-of-three battle for third series at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Mark Calado pounded 13 kills and three kill blocks for 16 points, Peter Quiel had 14 markers while JP Bugaoan and Raymond Bautista finished with 12 points each for FEU, which can close the series on Wednesday.
The Tams started out sluggish and the Falcons capitalized to control the match after two frames. Adamson even reached match point thrice in the third set only to see FEU steal the extended set.
With the golden chance in front of them, the Tams seized the opportunity to turn the tables around in their favor.
Skipper Paolo Pablico saw his 27-point effort go down the drain for the Falcons. Leo Miranda and George Labang added 20 and 14, respectively, for Adamson.
