National University challenges University of Sto. Tomas for the crown in Game 1 of the best-of-three PVL Season 2 Collegiate Conference Finals.
Powerhouse teams National University and University of Sto. Tomas collide Sunday in Game 1 of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference best-of-three men’s Finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The explosive match begins at 12:00 noon.
UST advanced to the championship round after sweeping Adamson University in the Final Four series while NU needed to thread the proverbial eye of the needle just to earn a Finals slot.
The Bulldogs, which finished the elimination round on top, clawed back from a 0-1 semis series deficit before booting out Far Eastern University in straight sets in a sudden death last Wednesday.
Against the Tigers, NU will try to duplicate its elims win and draw closer to adding another crown to the Bulldogs heads after ruling UAAP Season 80 four months ago.
UST, on the other hand, is hungry for a major title after years of drought.
The Bulldogs will pin their hopes on top scorer Bryan Bagunas and veterans Kim Malabunga, Francis Saura and Madzlan Gampong while the Tigers will parade a solid crew in Manuel Medina, Jayvee Sumagaysay, Joshua Umandal and Genesis Redido.
Meanwhile, the battle for third series between Adamson and FEU will start at 10:00 a.m.
