National University will try to wrap up their title conquest with a sweep of University of Sto. Tomas.
National University goes for the jugular on Wednesday in Game 2 of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference men's Finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
With the title within their grasp, the Bulldogs march in their 12:00 noon match against University of Sto. Tomas with just one thing in mind – finish off the Tigers.
“Nandito na talaga. Kahit anong mangyari gusto na naming kunin talaga sa Game 2. Kompiyansa naman ako sa nilalaro ng mga bata ko,” said NU coach Dante Alinsunurin.
The reigning UAAP champions are looking to add the PVL crown in their collection.
“Kailangan na naming kunin ang (title) ng PVL,” Alinsunurin said.
NU took Game 1 of the best-of-three series in a come-from-behind fashion, clawing its way out of an early hole to escape with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17, victory and move within a win of claiming the title.
Seasoned players Bryan Bagunas, Madzlan Gampong, Francis Saura and rookie Angelo Almendras carried the Bulldogs in their second win against their elimination round victim.
But despite having momentum on their side, Alinsunurin wants his ward to guard against complacency.
“Kami hangga’t maaari ayaw na namin silang bigyan ng pagkakataon na sa bandang huli kami naman ang mamomroblema,” said Alinsunurin.
Meanwhile, Far Eastern University also has its eyes on sealing its battle for third series against Adamson University.
Game time is at 10:00 a.m.
The Tamaraws rallied from two sets down to escape with the win and inch closer to a podium finish.
