PVL: Lady Eagles face early test in Lady Warriors
Ateneo de Manila University debuts in the PVL Season 2 Open Conference on Sunday against Pocari Sweat-Air Force.

Ateneo de Manila University fans will get a glimpse the Lady Eagles ahead of the UAAP on Sunday.

The Lady Eagles face an early test in their debut in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference as they take on a veteran-laden Pocari Sweat-Air Force at the Imus Sports Complex in Imus, Cavite.

The two-time UAAP champion squad, now handled by head coach Oliver Almadro, marches into battle at 4:00 p.m. The match will air live on LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.

Back for their last year as Lady Eagles are Bea De Leon, Maddie Madayag while Kim Gequillana will make her return after skipping UAAP Season 80 because of a knee injury. Holdovers Deanna Wong, Jules Samonte, Ponggay Gaston and Kat Tolentino are also expected to show their same dangerous form under the system of Almadro.

The match will also be a baptism of fire for the Katipunan-based squad’s new recruits in setter Jaja Maraguinot, sister of former Ateneo open spiker Jho, Bela Peralta and Vanessa Gandler.

Meanwhile, the Lady Warriors are focused on reclaiming lost glory.

Reinforced Conference Most Valuable Player Myla Pablo and the core of the Air Force will try jumpstart its campaign back into the throne after losing to BaliPure in the Finals last year.
