Medyo naka-adjust na dahil yung una nga namin bago kami magsimula, one day before ng opening kasi medyo gumulo ang team namin -- Tacloban head coach Nes Pamilar
MALOLOS, Bulacan --- Tacloban head coach Nes Pamilar sees a better Fighting Warays squad as the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference goes deeper.
After a bad start in their campaign, Tacloban showed improvement after doing quick work of Iriga-Navy Wednesday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center here.
Pamilar needed to tweak his starting rotation a day before the Fighting Warays’ opening day match against PetroGazz after San Beda players Jiezela and Nieza Viray pulled out from participating in the season-ending tournament.
“Medyo naka-adjust na dahil yung una nga namin bago kami magsimula, one day before ng opening kasi medyo gumulo ang team namin,” said Pamilar after Tacloban’s 25-17, 25-17, 25-19 victory over the Lady Oragons. “’Yung dalawang Viray talaga kasi talaga ang naka-lineup namin so biglang last minute nga na sinabing talagang di papayagan,” he added.
Pamilar replaced the Viray twins with libero Jonaly Ibisa and Kim Luzon while Far Eastern University's Heather Guino-o and Kyle Negrito only joined the team just two days before the opening.
“’Yung last practice nga before ng first game namin nagpa-tryout pa ako ulit kaya medyo sabug-sabog, magulo kami nu’ng umpisa,” the mentor said of their 22-25, 14-25, 24-26, loss to the Angels.
“Siguro ngayon medyo nakakabalik at na-organize ulit saka yung dalawang galing namin sa FEU late na naka-practice after pa ng PVL Collegiate Conference,” he added.
Pamilar also liked Tacloban’s chances this conference especially with a double-round robin format, saying that it will give them enough time to solidify their game.
“Mas magdyi-jell ng team medyo mas makaka-adjust pa kami,” he said.
