'Pag binigyan ka ng task, 'pag binigyan ka ng opportunity makapaglaro gawin mo yung part mo, hindi ka man makapatay sa opensa bawi ka sa depensa -- Nicole Tiamzon
BanKo is enjoying its best start so far in the Premier Volleyball League.
Unbeaten in five outings, the Perlas Spikers are on the right track in their quest to capture the elusive title in the second edition of the league’s Open Conference.
One player who stood out in BanKo’s romp is veteran hitter Nicole Tiamzon.
She may not be as celebrated as other stars but she’s has been consistently proving her worth with her intensity, energy and efficiency.
The former University of the Philippines star is averaging 15 points per game as a vital cog on offense, alongside Dzi Gervacio.
“Sabi nga ni coach (Dong Dela Cruz) every time kahit sino yung hugutin mo sa bench nakakapag-contribute naman,” said Tiamzon.
“So ‘pag binigyan ka ng task, 'pag binigyan ka ng opportunity makapaglaro gawin mo yung part mo, hindi ka man makapatay sa opensa bawi ka sa depensa,” she added.
On Wednesday, Tiamzon dropped 20 points in the Perlas Spikers’ 25-21, 23-25, 29-27, 25-18, victory over Tacloban.
Tiamzon unleashed 15 attacks, three aces and a pair of kill blocks for BanKo.
But Tiamzon was quick to downplay her role in the team, giving credit to her teammates for adhering to their system.
“Everyone can contribute, I mean kahit open, or mapa-quick,” she said. “’Yun nga babalik lang din ako doon na everyone can contribute naman.”
Tiamzon and the Perlas Spikers will get their toughest test next week when they take on star-studded Creamline.
“One week kami walang game, siguro tuloy tuloy lang kami ng training and kailangan lang namin ayusin yung mga kailangan namin ayusin talaga,” she said.
