Banko and Iriga-Navy clash in the second round of eliminations.
BanKo and Iriga-Navy look for a fresh new start after contrasting end of the first round when the second half of the double-round eliminations of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference begins Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
The Perlas Spikers opened their campaign with five straight wins before falling short in their last two games to move down to a share of the second spot with Ateneo-Motolite with 5-2 win-loss slate.
BanKo is coming off a straight sets loss to league-leading Creamline and a stinging 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 23-25, 13-15, loss to Pocari Sweat-Air Force last Sunday in Baliwag, Bulacan.
Meanwhile, the Lady Oragons are on a high after snapping a six-game losing streak to barge in the win column.
Behind Army veterans Nene Bautista and Joanne Bunag, Grazielle Bombita and Hezzymie Acuna, Iriga-Navy outlasted young Adamson-Akari, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-11, last Saturday to end the first round on a high note.
Head coach Edgardo Rusit is optimistic of their final push to gain a spot in the Final Four with his Army recruits now focused on their services with the Lady Oragons following the end of the AFP Olympics.
“Sa second round makakapag-focus na kami (sa conference) kasi tapos na ang liga naming sa AFP (Olympics),” he said. “Ngayon naka-focus na sila sa team namin ngayon dito sa Iriga, siguro yung adjustment namin malaki na ang mababago.”
Iriga-Navy is looking to exact revenge on the Perlas Spikers who beat the Lady Oragons in four sets at the start of their campaign.
