BanKo rediscovered its winning ways in a quick work of Iriga-Navy.
BanKo had enough of being at the losing end of its last couple of games as it vented its ire on Iriga-Navy, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19, Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Perlas Spikers rediscovered their winning ways and cruised to their sixth win in eight games while snapping a two-game slide to open their elims second round campaign.
Dzi Gervacio led the way for Banko, nailing 15 attacks for 17 points while adding 10 digs.
“It’s nice to be back here dito sa table na ito,” said Perlas Spikers coach Dong Dela Cruz as he joined Gervacio during the postgame interview.
“Ayun siyempre na-relieve kami kasi two games kami na slide. Malaking bagay ito sa first game namin sa second round. Yung mga players nag-step up naman,” added Dela Cruz, whose squad bowed down to league-leading Creamline and Pocari Sweat-Air Force during BanKo’s dry spell.
Sue Roces and Joy Dacoron added seven markers each while Fhen Emnas tallied 25 excellent sets and eight digs for the Perlas Spikers, who played without veteran setter Jem Ferrer. The former Ateneo de Manila University standout skipped the match because of personal reasons.
BanKo needed only 75 minutes to submit Iriga-Navy, which gave away 24 points off its errors. The Perlas Spikers were in contol of the whole match despite the comeback attempts of their rivals.
The Lady Oragons dropped to 1-7 slate and absorbed another defeat at the hands of BanKo after a four-set loss in their first meeting.
Joanne Bunag and Nene Bautista got 14 and 11 markers, respectively, for Iriga-Navy, which failed to ride the momentum of their win over Adamson-Akari at the end of the first round last Saturday.
