Time to invest some wins for Petrogazz Angels
Petrogazz Angels made quick work of the Iriga-Navy Lady Oragons in straight sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-17, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Angels, whose last game was back in October 13, arrived invigorated from the long break and opened their second round campaign with a resounding victory, snapping the Lady Oragons' winning streak.
Petrogazz built their momentum as early as the first set and kept Iriga-Navy at bay for the rest of the match. Paneng Mercado led the way with 20 points while Kai Baloaloa chipped in 15 markers.
"Buti nga nakuha na natin itong win na ito so the more wins na makuha natin the earliest, maka puhunan tayo kasi ganun din yung schedule this time. Dikit dikit din. Within November tatapusin natin lahat ng games," said Coach Jerry Yee referring to their usual deadly itinerary.
The victory improved Petrogazz's record to 5-3, giving them a better shot at the semifinals. With this, Yee expects his squad to learn from the close losses they experienced in the first round.
"Siyempre di naman mahihina yung mga kalaro natin so we try to play right, yung corrections natin, i-apply natin, yung mga preparations natin, magawa and hopefully we get the win," he shared.
On the other side, Joanna Bunag and Grazielle Bombita produced 18 and 11 points recpetively for Iriga-Navy as they fell to 3-8.
Petrogazz will seek for another victory as they face Pocari Sweat on November 7 while Iriga-Navy will take on league-leading Ateneo-Motolite on November 4.
