PVL: Samonte proves she is always ready for Ateneo-Motolite
"I love Jules today." -- Coach Oliver Almadro on game catalyst Jules Samonte

Jules Samonte delivered in the nick of time in Ateneo-Motolite's latest match versus the Tacloban Fighting Warays.

The Lady Eagles secured the first two sets but come the third frame, they committed consecutive errors as the Fighting Warays took advantage. The tide turned by then and Ateneo's chance for a straight set victory slipped away.

In the beginning of the fourth set, Tacloban's momentum was uncontainable for Ateneo-Motolite, but Samonte came to the rescue. She caught fire and scored at least five of her eight points in the eventual last set.

Showing both intensity and enjoyment on the court, Samonte's efforts proved to be the game changer. She was the catalyst in the match and propelled Ateneo to its eighth victory to keep them in first place in the PVL Open Conference.

"I love Jules today. She stepped up to the challenge. Nung unang ginamit ko siya wala. Pagbalik niya, she accepted the challenge," Coach Oliver Almadro said, "I challenged her na it's about time. When the opportunity comes, she has to be ready and Jules proved that she is always ready..

Apparently, Almadro has been pushing her third-year player to step up for the past games. Fortunately, his words rubbed off Samonte and she delivered when it mattered the most.

"It’s because he just told me to be ready at all times and you just have to accept your role in the team and just do your game always. Doon ko lang din nakukuha yung confidence with Coach O’s words," Samonte shared.

She also expressed that with the compostion of Ateneo right now, the team demands flexibility from all of them and that is what she exactly displayed in her latest performance.

"Coach O wants us all to be flexible with the positions kasi so we cant be choosy with what position we are going to play for. Kunyari like tomorrow I'll be utility, then the next day I'll be open. He just told us to be ready always," she added.
