PVL: Fighting Warays, Angels clash to keep semis hopes alive
PetroGazz will try to fuel its drive for a spot in the Final Four.

PetroGazz and skidding Tacloban square off in an all-important match on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.

Both at the tail end of the race for berths in the Final Four, the Angels and Fighting Warays need to add more wins in their respective records for a chance to at least force a semis spot playoff.

A win in their 4:00 p.m. encounter could be the spark for each teams semis bid. The game will air live on LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.

PetroGazz sports a 5-4 win-loss record at no. 4 spot, just half a game ahead of idle Pocari Sweat-Air Force.

The Angels are coming off a painful five-set loss to the Lady Warriors, 25-17, 29-27, 16-25, 23-25, 13-15, last Wednesday despite the 15-point efforts of Jonah Sabete and Paneng Mercado.

Tacloban is also on a slump of late as the Fighting Warays dropped three games in a row including a straight sets defeat at the hands of Creamline.

Holding a 4-7 slate at sixth spot, a loss by the Fighting Warays will put them on the brink of elimination.
