Alyssa Valdez powered Creamline to a straight-set win over Iriga-Navy as the Cool Smashers secured a Final Four spot.
Creamline occupied the third Final Four berth after making quick work of Iriga-Navy, 25-12, 25-13, 26-24, Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Cool Smashers survived a third set scare to claim their third straight win for a 9-2 win-loss record to join Ateneo-Motolite (10-3) and BanKo (9-3) in the best-of-three semifinals.
Alyssa Valdez finished with 13 points highlighted by 11 kills and added 15 digs to pace Creamline, which outgunned the Lady Oragons, 46-25, in attacks.
“Siguro more of kailangan talaga namin makadagdag pa ng wins going into the semifinals kasi medyo nakikita naman natin ‘yung standings (dikit-dikit),” said Valdez.
Jema Galanza had 12 markers while Michele Gumabao added 11 points for the Cool Smashers, who will take on BanKo on Saturday in Cagayan de Oro.
Iriga-Navy showed some signs of life in the third after getting pummeled in the first two frames, taking a 20-17 lead only to falter in the end.
The Lady Oragons fell to 3-10 mark.
No Iriga-Navy player scored in double digits with Divine Eguia, Florence Madulid and Grazielle Bombita each posting five points each.
