BanKo and Ateneo-Motolite battle in a winner-take-all match for the last Finals seat.
BanKo and Ateneo-Motolite duke it out one last time on Sunday for the right to punch a ticket into the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference Finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Expect an all-out war when the two teams collide at 4:00 p.m. in the decider of the best-of-three semifinals, where the winner will advance in the championship round to challenge the might of Creamline.
The game will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
Game 1 of the best-of-three Finals is on Wednesday.
A different kind of Lady Eagles showed up on Saturday as Ateneo-Motolite finally got over the hump of being at the losing end of its head-to-head with BanKo.
With Ponggay Gaston and Kat Tolentino leading the way, the Lady Eagles swept the Lady Spikers, 25-21, 25-20, 26-24, to even the series at 1-1 and snapped a three-game losing streak to the veteran-laden Perlas Spikers.
“Game 3, same thing. We will just be brave in everything we do, we will just be courageous in everything we do,” said Ateneo-Motolite coach Oliver Almadro. “No matter what, beterano sila, experienced sila. Yung mga pamalit nila beterano pa rin. Sabi ko sa mga players ko they just have to be enthusiastic all the time, keep on learning para magawa namin ang gusto namin.”
The Perlas Spikers, who took the series opener in five sets, will need to bring out the same intensity that they had in their previous three victories over the Lady Eagles for a breakthrough championship stint.
Veterans Dzi Gervacio, Sue Roces, Nicole Tiamzon and Kathy Bersola must bounce back from a sluggish performance in Game 2 to avoid elimination.
The loser of the duel will face PetroGazz in the best-of-three battle for third.
