BanKo goes for the third place title-clincher.
BanKo shoots to clinch the third place trophy on Saturday when the Perlas Spikers meet PetroGazz in Game 2 of their Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference best-of-three series at the Batangas City Coliseum.
Game time is at 1:45 p.m. before the announcement of the individual awards. The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
The Perlas Spikers defeated the Angels, 25-14, 28-26, 10-25, 25-19, in the series opener last Wednesday to move closer to a repeat of their bronze medal conquest in the Reinforced Conference months back.
BanKo looks to close down the series and avoid the complication of playing in a winner-take-all duel. Game 3, if needed, is on Sunday.
A win by the Angels in straight sets coupled by the championship series between Creamline and Ateneo-Motolite ending in two games will also spell doom for the Perlas Spikers. In case the Finals series ends Saturday and the battle for third is tied at 1-1, the team with the highest quotient will pocket the bronze.
“We will try to win para at least deserve namin ang third (place) talaga,” said BanKo head coach Dong Dela Cruz. “Ayaw naming mag-quotient so we’ll try to win talaga.”
Dela Cruz pins his hopes on Dzi Gervacio, who scored 20 points in the series opener, Sue Roces, Nicole Tiamzon and Kathy Bersola.
But PetroGazz wants to write a different story with Paneng Mercado, Jonah Sabete, Cherry Nunag and Jessey De Leon leading the charge.
