A source confirmed that former De La Salle University star Manilla Santos is 'training' with the Creamline Cool Smashers.
De La Salle University great Manilla Santos is training with the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Yes, the former Lady Spiker could be making a volleyball return.
Cool Smasher Fille Cainglet-Cayetano in an episode of The Score said that the hard-hitting spiker during her time with DLSU is ‘training’.
“I’m not sure (in her return). But she wants to really play professional volleyball because she didn’t have a chance,” said Cainglet-Cayetano. “Because during her time wala naman kasing professional volleyball agad. Unlike me, when I graduated they formed na a professional team so I was able to continue playing pero for her she stopped for a long time.”
Another source confirmed that Santos is training with the Creamline but refrained from answering if the DLSU legend is indeed looking to make a comeback.
Santos last played competitive volleyball back a decade after when she led DLSU back into the UAAP throne in Season 71 where she also bagged the Best Receiver and Finals Most Valuable Player award. La Salle retired Santos' number 14 jersey.
“I think it’s really her goal to join a professional league,” said Cainglet.
