Newcomer Motolite will have the advantage of fielding a young and aggressive crew backed by veteran hitter Myla Pablo in their maiden campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference.

The squad tapped top talents coming from University of the Philippines and Adamson University under head coach Air Padda with Pablo, a two-time Most Valuable Player, as skipper.

“I’m really excited on my new journey with a new team. We have young and talented players na galing sa UAAP. I hope na this conference ay mag-jell kami as a team with our imports na tutulong sa amin,” said Pablo.

With the majority of her teammates fresh from their stints for their respective schools in the UAAP, Pablo is confident that they have the advantage of young bloods looking to make their mark in the club scene.

“Ang advantage namin sa team na ito ay ‘yung mga bata galing sa UAAP, siyempre mga hinog pa ‘yan kumbaga. Ganado pa sila maglaro ngayon,” said Pablo, who transferred to Motolite after a deal with her former team Pocari Sweat after last season.

“’Yung mga bata ngayon gutom silang manalo, siyempre ako rin kasi bagong team ito. So lahat ng games namin dapat lahat kami kondisyon at dapat lahat kami gutom manalo every game,” added Pablo, who helped the Lady Warriors claim the 2017 import-laden conference.

Pablo will be backed by energetic power-hitters Isa Molde and Tots Carlos, setter Ayel Estranero and middle blockers Marist Layug and Aie Gannaban from UP.

Also joining the team are Padda’s former Adamson wards Eli Soyud, Thang Ponce, Bernadette Flora, Jellie Tempiatura and Fhen Emnas, who transferred from BanKo.

Motolite tapped the services of former Pocari Sweat import middle blocker Edina Selimovic while Gygy Silva has yet to arrive in the country.

Despite training together for just a couple of weeks since the squad had to wait for their college players to end their respective UAAP stints, Pablo believes that the team is quick to jell and adjust to Padda’s system come their debut on June 1 against returning BaliPure.

“Unti-unti na naming nakukuha ang sistema kasi siyempre iba-ibang kultura ng coach ang pinanggalingan though yung mga taga-Adamson nakasama na si Coach Air so yung iba medyo sanay na. Pero yung mga taga-UP at ako medyo naga-adjust pa,” said Pablo.

“Si Coach Air disiplinado siya sa team and di siya nagsasayang ng oras,” added Pablo. “’Yung oras sa training kailangang worth it ang bawat training. Gagaling ka talaga sa kanya.”

The Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference begins on May 26, Sunday, 2 PM LIVE on S+A, S+A HD, LIGA, LIGA HD, iWant and via livestream.
