Pag-change ko ng direction (na-sprain). So pagka-change ko, di ko alam kung nadulas ako o natapilok ako at the same time -- Alyssa Valdez
Creamline ace player Alyssa Valdez hurt her left ankle in the second set of the Cool Smashers’ debut against PetroGazz in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Valdez was carried out of the court after sustaining an ankle injury while trying to retrieve the ball after getting blocked following an attack with the frame tied at 16 and Creamline trailing in the match, 0-1.
“Pag-change ko ng direction (na-sprain). So pagka-change ko, di ko alam kung nadulas ako o natapilok ako at the same time,” said the two-time league Most Valuable Player.
‘”Yung momentum ko pa-left tapos magtsi-change ako direction ng pa-right, naiwan yung paa ko, hindi ko alam kung nadulas o naano. Pero OK lang naman,” added Valdez, who had her ankle wrapped with ice.
Valdez said that it was her first time to suffer a sprain off a lateral movement.
“Usually nai-sprain ako pag tatalon pero di ako masyado nai-sprain sa mga lateral parang first time ko,” she said.
Full diagnosis is yet to be determined.
“Di ko pa alam (ang diagnosis) kapag natanggal ang ice siguro I’ll know,” she said.
