PVL: Angels go for back-to-back wins
PetroGazz shoots for its second win in a row.

PetroGazz eyes to continue its hold of the early lead when the Angels face debuting BanKo on Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 5:00 p.m. for the match that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

The Angels opened their campaign with a morale-boosting 25-22, 26-24, 25-22, stunning win over repeat-seeking Creamline on Sunday with Cuban import Wilma Salas and American reinforcement Janisa Johnson conniving on offense.

Salas impressed on her first game in the country as the Cuban national team member dropped 20 points while Johnson, who played for BaliPure last year, scored 16 markers for PetroGazz, which got significant contributions from its locals led by Jeanette Panaga and Cherry Nunag.

The Perlas Spikers will parade balik-import Kia Bright and new partner in towering Turkish import Yasemin Sahin Yildirim.

Holdovers from last year’s lineup are Dzi Gervacio, Sue Roces, Mae Tajima, Ella De Jesus, Kathy Bersola, Nicole Tiamzon, Jem Ferrer, Gizelle Tan and Roma Doromal.

BanKo also tapped a young middle blocker in Far Eastern University’s Jeanette Villareal after the departure of Joy Dacoron.
