League-leading PetroGazz battles Motolite for third straight win.
Unbeaten PetroGazz will take advantage of its experience and veteran smarts as the Angels clash with Motolite on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Angels shoot for their third straight win when they march back to the court for their 2:00 p.m. encounter with Motolite that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
“Given sa mga ganyang club team naman, once na nakaharap ka ng collegiate talagang nandyan ang aggressiveness and intensity nila kasi mas bata sila,” said PetroGazz coach Arnold Laniog.
“Since kami ang beterano, iti-take advantage namin na mas eksperiyensyado kami,” he added. “But kung kaya naming tapatan ang intensity nila mas better and knowing na Motolite has a new composition tingin ko mas lamang kami sa jelling as a team.”
The Angels have yet to drop a set after sweeping past defending champion Creamline and BanKo.
American import Janisa Johnson and Cuban reinforcement Wilma Salas will lead the way for PetroGazz with Cherry Nunag, Cai Baloaloa, Jeanette Panaga, libero Cienne Cruz and setter Djanel Cheng providing the support.
On the other hand, Motolite will charge into war sans skipper Myla Pablo, who is nursing a sore back.
Pablo sat out Motolite’s 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25, debut loss to PacificTown Army on Saturday in the first of their back-to-back weekend schedule.
Channon Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago and Bosnian Edina Selimovic had impressive debuts with 22 and 15 points, respectively, but Motolite’s imports will need the help of their locals with the absence of the two-time conference Most Valuable Player Pablo.
