[I speak] little English but the team knows how to talk to me -- Creamline's Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin
Creamline’s Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin doesn’t need to be fluent in English to communicate and understand her teammates.
The Cool Smashers have their own way to relay what they want from the third year import and Kaewpin is always ready to oblige.
“[I speak] little English but the team knows how to talk to me,” said Kaewpin.
The guest player displayed an exceptional service game as she powered Creamline to a 23-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-23, victory over BanKo on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Down by a set, Kaewpin sparked the decisive second set run by the Cool Smashers with a string of aces that broke the back of the Perlas Spikers.
Kaewpin landed nine of her 24 service clips and hammered 18-of-38 on spikes for game-high 27 points. She also showed her prowess on floor defense with 15 excellent receptions and eight digs for Creamline.
“I think today team’s so very good. [Our] serve and defense were very good,” said Kaewpin, who tried her best to answer questions from reporters.
The Cool Smashers won their second straight win in three games to tie PacficTown Army at second spot behind unbeaten PetroGazz.
Kaewpin said that compared to their first two games, Creamline played fluidly and communicated well inside the court.
“I think the team [communicated well inside the court compared to our previous games],” she said. “I think today [we played relax] and happy.”
The Cool Smashers will take on Motolite on Saturday.
