PVL: Angels gun for 4-0; Water Defenders seek first win
PetroGazz targets its fourth straight win in a clash with BaliPure.

PetroGazz is keen on keeping its winning streak going as the Angels face winless BaliPure on Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Angels crushed Motolite in straight sets the last time out for their third straight win in as many games for the solo hold of the lead.

PetroGazz, which has yet to drop a set, will get a chance to try to extended its winning romp at 3:00 p.m. in a match against the Water Defenders that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

American import Janisa Johnson is looking forward to facing her former team as she and Cuban reinforcement Wilma Salas lead the Angels to another battle.

“I’m excited. I know it’s a different team but it’s always fun to play against your old team and old teammates. I’m excited for that and looking forward for Wednesday,” said Johnson, who played for the then National University-backed BaliPure.

Salas and Johnson are currently the top two conference leading scorers, averaging 21 and 16.6 points per game, respectively, for the Angels. Backing them up are locals Jeanette Panaga, Cherry Nunag, Cai Baloaloa, setter Djanel Cheng and top libero Cienne Cruz.

The Water Defenders are winless in two games tied with Motolite.

BaliPure is coming off a four-set loss at the hands of BanKo last Saturday.

The Water Defenders will pin their hopes on Slovakian Alexandra Vajdova, Montenegrin Danijela Dzakovic and Grazielle Bombita.
