PVL: Angels look to bounce back; Lady Troopers eye semis seat

PetroGazz will try to get back in the win column when it takes on PacificTown Army, which guns to clinch a semis berth.
PetroGazz’s character will be tested on Sunday as the Angels try to bounce back from a setback in a showdown with semis seat-seeking PacificTown Army in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna.
The Angels saw their seven-game winning streak snapped by defending champion Creamline, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 24-26, on Saturday in the first of their back-to-back weekend schedule.
PetroGazz, which is tied with the Cool Smashers at the top spot with 7-1 win-loss slates, eyes a return to the win column and an repeat over the Lady Troopers in their 4:00 p.m. showdown. The game will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
“We need to have a quick turnaround and be ready for [Sunday] no matter what, whoever we play, we always have that the same mentality,” said Angels’ American import Janisa Johnson.
Johnson will be backed by Cuban Wilma Salas, Jeanette Panaga, Cherry Nunag, Cai Baloaloa, setter Djanel Cheng and libero Cienne Cruz against PacificTown Army, which is looking to join Creamline and PetroGazz in the best-of-three Final Four.
The Lady Troopers carry a 4-3 slate and another win will seal them the third semis seat.
PacificTown Army is coming off a straight sets win over eliminated BaliPure and will again pin its hopes on American Jenelle Jordan, Ukrainian Lena Lymareva-Flink, Royse Tubino, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Ging Balse-Pabayo and setter Alina Bicar.
