Alyssa Valdez warns Creamline to guard against complacency as they head into the semifinals.
Alyssa Valdez felt that the defending champion Creamline played too relaxed against veteran PacificTown Army on Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference.
The Cool Smashers, who are already through to the Final Four, let their guard down for a while and it cost them a set.
It may not look like a big deal as Creamline still wrapped the game up on in four sets for its eighth straight win but it showed that the Cool Smashers cannot take any team lightly.
“We have to treat this seriously,” said Valdez referring to the Cool Smashers’ 16-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-16, win over the Lady Troopers.
Creamline started out flat and even fell to a 14-24 hole in the first frame.
“[In] This game we’ve learned our lesson talaga. Going to the game na kahit alam naming pasok na kami sa semis, alam namin na mas mataas kami sa rank pero I think one lesson in today’s game is to really come prepared and really play to win every game,” said Valdez, who had 11 points.
The Cool Smashers needed to regroup to take the second set and even had to weather the late third set uprising of PacificTown Army before cruising in the fourth frame to take the win.
Creamline will close the elimination round on Saturday against winless BaliPure.
“Going to our next game, we treat it as very important game for us, get our confidence, get our system and we really have to know our identity going to the semifinals,” said Valdez. “Because it’s easy for us to keep going to that system pag nahihirapan kami.”
