Repeat-seeking Creamline will bring the momentum of their nine-game winning streak to the best-of-three Final Four.
Defending champion Creamline built great momentum heading into the semifinals after closing the elimination round with a nine-game winning streak beating winless BaliPure, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18, on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Birthday girl Alyssa Valdez played an inspired game with throng of Cool Smashers supporters cheering her on as Creamline finished the elims with a 9-1 win-loss record.
“We’re very happy with the wins we’re getting for the past few weeks but I guess it’s very obvious, kitang-kita, how our game fluctuated siguro for the past few games din lalo na dito sa latter part,” said Valdez, who turned 26. “It goes to show na siguro ang dami pa naming dapat gawin sa practices.”
The Cool Smashers will take on PacificTown Army in the Final Four.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin scored 14 points, all coming off attacks, and added six excellent receptions for Creamline, which had a chance to use all of its players except for setter Jia Morado.
Head coach Tai Bundit rested the playmaker as Kyle Negrito took over and tallied 17 excellent sets and five points for the Cool Smashers. Valdez finished with nine points and seven digs for Creamline.
The Water Defenders closed their campaign without a win in 10 outings.
