PVL: Creamline has more to show -- Valdez
Honestly I think it [winning streak] is just a testament of working hard sa practices but it doesn’t mean na we’re really 100 percent of what we aim to be and what we aim for -- Alyssa Valdez

Even with 10 straight victories and a step away from a third straight Finals appearance, Creamline top hitter Alyssa Valdez stressed that the Cool Smashers are far from their top form.

“Honestly I think it [winning streak] is just a testament of working hard sa practices but it doesn’t mean na we’re really 100 percent of what we aim to be and what we aim for,” said Valdez on Wednesday after Creamline’s 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, win over PacificTown Army in Game 1 of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference best-of-three semifinals.

After dropping their first game of the conference to PetroGazz, which like the Cool Smashers are a win away from a breakthrough championship stint, Creamline racked up 10 wins in a row.

“We’re really looking forward na na mas gumanda pa yung game namin,” said Valdez, who scored 12 points with eight digs and eight excellent receptions.

The Cool Smashers showed their depth against the Lady Troopers with head coach Tai Bundit tweaking his rotation while imports Kuttika Kaewpin of Thailand and Ale Blanco delivered their usual numbers.

The two-time Conference Most Valuable Player added that they’re peaking at the right time but they have to sustain it up until they complete their title repeat.

“It’s really the consistency that will bring us up to the Finals. And hopefully it brings us back to the championship again,” she said.

Valdez also welcomed the challenges that they faced along the way in their winning run.

“Ang hirap ng wala ring masyadong iniisip na parang win-win win but at the end of the day it’s nice also that the little details na natatalo kami ng isang set okay din yun para we have things to improve on,” she said.

Game 2 of the semis is on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
