PetroGazz is out to seal its entry to the Finals.
Top seed PetroGazz goes for the Finals seat-clincher on Saturday in Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals series against BanKo in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
Opening serve of the match that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream is at 2:00 p.m.
Showing that they are more than just a Wilma Salas-Janisa Johnson team in the series opener, the Angels reintroduced their solid middles in Cherry Nunag and Jeanette Panaga in their 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 25-12, victory last Wednesday.
Nunag and Panaga combined for 21 points and made their presence felt at the net to frustrate the Perlas Spikers as they complemented the scoring barrage brought by relentless attackers Cuban Salas and American Johnson, who scored 25 and 23 markers, respectively.
Although PetroGazz has beaten BanKo thrice this conference, Johnson knows that they have to keep their guard up and finish what they started to advance to their breakthrough best-of-three Finals appearance.
“[We have] to stay focus, really and prepare for anything,” said Johnson. “We don’t know what’s coming, we don’t know what’s coming away. We can’t have expectations so we have to prep everything, play our hardest and give everything.”
With their backs against the wall, the Perlas Spikers have no room for mistake anymore if they want to extend the series to a do-or-die on Wednesday.
American Stiix Horton, who replaced Turkish Yasemin Yildirim, is expected to give a better showing and jell with BanKo to help Thai Sutadta Chuewulim and locals Nicole Tiamzon, Kathy Bersola, Sue Roces and Dzi Gervacio.
