Defending champion Creamline executed its game plan to the tee.
So it’s no wonder the Cool Smashers cruised their way to their second straight victory in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Wednesday.
Creamline scored a clinical 25-14, 25-15, 25-14, win over debuting Motolite to keep its grip of the early lead.
“’Yung natuwa ako for the game today is kung ano yung prinactice namin, yun talaga yung lumabas because Coach Tai (Bundit) made us focus on defense and blocking for two days after our first game na nagkulang kami sa floor defense,” said Michele Gumabao.
Compared to their jittery start last Sunday in the Cool Smashers’ straight sets win over Air Force, Creamline, this time, buckled down to business right from the opening serve for a dominating 75-minute conquest.
“So, today, doon talaga lumabas. Doon ako nagulat na everyone nakapag-focus doon sa area na yun na talagang pino-point out sa amin ni Coach,” said Gumabao, who had nine points.
The Cool Smashers displayed balance scoring with setter Jia Morado dishing out 21 excellent sets to help Creamline hammer down 40 attacks.
Alyssa Valdez scored 15 points, Jema Galanza had a triple-double with 12 points, 15 digs and 10 excellent receptions while five other players contributed on offense for the Cool Smashers.
“We're just happy that everyone really played well today. Even the players from the bench na pinapasok talaga ni Coach Tai. It's a total team effort,” said Valdez. “And we can't wait na mas mag-jell pa kami as a team and more plays and mga, mas magkakila-kilala pa kami.”
The Cool Smashers will take on newcomer Chef’s Classics on Sunday.
