Myla Pablo and setter Iris Tolenada connived to lead Motolite to its second straight win at the expense of BaliPure, 25-9, 25-20, 25-19, on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Pablo scored 12 points with 10 coming off kills including the back-to-back hits that sealed Motolite’s second win in three outings tied with ChocoMucho. Birthday girl Tolenada delivered 17 excellent sets on top of four points for Motolite, who took advantage of the Water Defenders’ atrocious 31 errors.
“It feels good to win two games in a row even though we still have to work on a few things,” said Motolite coach Godfrey Okumu.
Stilll, Okumu who felt that his squad gave BaliPure a chance to mount a rally after building significant lead in the second and third sets following a dominating opening frame win.
“Sometimes we lead and then we let the opponents come and close in and then we get the sense of urgency which is not necessary,” he said. “BaliPure played well today. I cannot say they’re an easy team to beat, a team to play against because they serve pretty well. They’re a strong serving team but our plan worked well and I hope in the next coming games we’ll be able to get the same results.”
Isa Molde added nine markers while Aie Gannaban and Tots Carlos combined for 13 points for Motolite.
BaliPure failed to capitalize on its breakthrough win over Air Force last Wednesday that snapped its 12-game losing streak since the Reinforced Conference to fall to 1-3 card.
Grazielle Bombita was the only Water Defender in double figures with 11 points while Menchie Tubiera and Shirley Salamagos got eight and six markers, respectively.
