BanKo turned to the veteran duo of Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon in the Perlas Spikers’ clinical dismantling Chef’s Classics, 25-19, 25-21, 25-16, on Sunday to return in the win column of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The former University of the Philippines standouts contributed double-digit production in BanKo’s balance offensive thrust to improve to 3-2 win-loss record and rebound from a stinging four-set loss to unbeaten defending champion Creamline last Wednesday.
Bersola got 14 markers with 13 coming off attacks while Tiamzon had nine kills in her 12-point production for the Perlas Spikers, who rained down 49 attack points.
BanKo head coach Apichat Kongsawat utilized his bench during the match with only setter Nikka Yandoc not seeing action.
“It's really a good adjustment din para magkaroon ng exposure ‘yung second six kasi kailangan namin e, kailangan namin yun para magkaroon rin ng kumpiyansa yung mga bata,” said Tiamzon. “It's not underestimating the other team but it's more of stepping up.”
The Lady Red Spikers absorbed their fourth defeat in as many outings.
Nieza Viray was the only Chef’s Classics player in double figures with 13 points while Justine Tiu had six.
