PetroGazz improved its record to 3-2 after sweeping Air Force.
PetroGazz strung its first back-to-back wins after keeping listless Air Force on the ground, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23, on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Riding the crest of their straight sets conquest of PacificTown Army last Wednesday, the Angels sustained their momentum to improve to a 3-2 win-loss record.
“Nakadalawang sunod so hopefully magtuloy-tuloy pa talaga,” said PetroGazz coach Arnold Laniog. “Pero yung game namin marami pa talagang kailangan trabahuhin.”
Jovielyn Prado and Cherry Nunag led the way for the Angels with 10 points each with the duo accounting for 19 of the squad’s 40 attack points. Paneng Mercado and Jeanette Panaga chipped in eight markers each while Jonah Sabete scored seven including the game-clinching crosscourt hit.
Laniog got a chance to empty his bench and even rested his starters towards the end of the third set with PetroGazz comfortably ahead.
But the Jet Spikers gave the Angels a scare as they slowly trimmed down their 19-24 deficit to just 23-24 before Sabete quelled Air Force’s uprising.
The Jet Spikers remained winless in five outings tied with Chef’s Classics.
Dell Palomata was the only Air Force player in double digits with 12 points while May Ann Pantino and Javen Sabas combined for only nine markers.
