PacificTown Army regained the momentum that brought them success in the early goings of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference.
Behind their balance scoring, the Lady Troopers won their second straight at the expense of skidding BaliPure, 25-17, 25-16, 27-25, on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.s
Army got a scare late in the third set before hanging tough in the extended frame for a 4-3 win-loss record.
Royse Tubino pounded 12 attacks for 13 points and added eight digs while Lutgarda Malaluan and Jem Gutierrez had 10 and nine markers, respectively, for the Lady Troopers.
“Makabalik lang ‘yung playing system namin especially sa mga veteran namin kasi when they get their groove, sigurado na, lalaro na kami,” said Army coach Kungfu Reyes. “May kaunti pa kaming lapses sa dulo pero nakakabalik, ‘yun naman ang importante.”
The Lady Troopers squandered a 24-23 lead as the Water Defenders saved two match points with both coming off errors from Malaluan and Jovelyn Gonzaga. Army got the match point advantage back after Carrie Pronuevo sent her service long as Ging Balse-Pabayo smashed the closing hit to finish off BaliPure.
The Water Defenders suffered their third defeat in a row to slid to 2-6 card at sixth place to end their first round campaign.
Grazielle Bombita was the only BaliPure player in double figures with 13 points while Satrianni Espiritu and Shirley Salamagos combined for 13 markers.
