BanKo seeks to string its fourth straight win and finish the first round at solo second when it faces a Myla Pablo-less Motolite side on Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Perlas Spikers will try to shake free from a two-way logjam with PetroGazz at 5-2 behind unbeaten defending champion Creamline (8-0) in their 6:00 p.m. encounter with Motolite, who will play sans injured main scorer Pablo.
The match will air live on LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
BanKo is currently the third team with the longest win streak after the Cool Smashers and the Angels, who are on a four-game roll. But the Perlas Spikers barely escaped an upset attempt from BaliPure, needing five sets to survive the feisty Water Defenders last week.
Coming off a good rest and fielding a complete manpower with Nicole Tiamzon, Dzi Gervacio and Kathy Bersola at the helm, BanKo holds a huge advantage over an incomplete Motolite lineup.
Motolite saw its four-game winning streak snapped and skipper Pablo leaving the court on a stretcher on Sunday after a straight sets defeat at the hands of PetroGazz.
Pablo is expected to be out for at least one week after suffering a metatarsal sprain on her right foot in the second set of Motolite’s game against the Angels.
With Pablo out, much of the scoring will now be on the shoulders of Isa Molde and Tots Carlos while Bern Flora will have big shoes to fill for Motolite.
