BanKo needed only 70 minutes to submit winless Chef’s Classics, 25-7, 25-16, 25-17, on Sunday to boost its chances of advancing in the Final Four of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Dzi Gervacio and Ella De Jesus connived on offense and finished with 10 points each as the Perlas Spikers won their second straight match to improve to 8-5 win-loss record at third place behind no. 2 PetroGazz (9-2).
Unbeaten defending champion Creamline occupied the first semis seat.
De Jesus scored all of her points on attacks and added five excellent receptions for BanKo. Kathy Bersola and Sue Roces scored nine points each for the Perlas Spikers, who had 41 attack points compared to the Lady Red Spikers’ 24.
The Perlas Spikers saw little resistance from Chef’s Classics as head coach Apichat Kongsawat had the chance to field his bench in the one-sided match.
The Lady Red Spikers suffered their 15th straight defeat in as many outings with just a game left in their maiden stint in the league.
Twins Ella and Nieza Viray scored seven and five points, respectively, for Chef’s Classics, which will end its campaign on Oct. 19 against Air Force.
