PVL: Angels go for semis playoff, ninth straight win
PetroGazz eyes ninth win in a row and at least a playoff for a semis seat.

PetroGazz has its eyes on clinching at least a playoff for a semifinals berth on Wednesday in a rematch with sputtering Motolite in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Holding the second-longest winning streak at eight games behind Final Four-bound and unbeaten repeat-seeking Creamline (12-0), the Angels will try to duplicate its first round win over Motolite when the two teams meet inside the court at 4:00 p.m.

The match will air live on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

PetroGazz sports a 9-2 win-loss record behind the Cool Smashers and head of five other teams still in the hunt for a semis berth.

Facing a team with a young core, the Reinforced Conference champions hope to bring back the same intensity and aggressiveness they displayed in their previous conquests and avoid the same pace that almost cost them the game on Saturday in Iloilo, where the Angels needed five sets to frustrate PacificTown Army.

But Motolite will come into the game raring to get back on the winning track after back-to-back losses that hampered its semis drive and at the same time gave the other teams within striking distance of the top four.

Motolite holds a 7-5 mark at fourth spot just ahead of Army (6-6), Air Force (5-7) and ChocoMucho (6-7).
