Defending champion Creamline stretched its winning romp to 13 games and in the process secured the no. 1 seed in the Final Four after beating PetroGazz, 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 25-18, Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod City.
Playing sans top hitter Alyssa Valdez, who was wearing a walking boot on her right foot, the unbeaten Cool Smashers relied on Jema Galanza, Michele Gumabao and Risa Sato to repeat over their Reinforced Conference championship tormentors.
Galanza waxed-hot with 25 points, hammering down 21 attacks with two aces and two kill blocks and added 15 digs while Gumabao finished with 16 markers and 13 digs for Creamline. Setter Jia Morado tallied 22 excellent sets for the Cool Smashers.
Creamline handed the Angels their second straight defeat as PetroGazz slid to 9-4 card.
Jovielyn Prado got 14 points off 12 markers and two aces while Paneng Mercado had 12 spikes coming off 11 kills and a kill block for the Angels. Prado and Mercado posted 12 digs each in a lost cause.
