PVL: Perlas Spikers claim second semis berth

BanKo secured a Final Four ticket after outlasting PacificTown-Army in Bacolod City.
BACOLOD -- BanKo outlasted Pacifictown-Army, 25-27, 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9, to nail a semifinals berth in the PVL Open Conference on Sunday at the USLS Coliseum here.
Sue Roces came through with 20 points, including two blocks and two service aces, Dzi Gervacio added 18 points, including two blocks, 12 digs and nine receptions for the Perlas Spikers.
With its 10th win in 15 contests, BanKo joined unbeaten defending champion Creamline in the semis.
Nicole Tiamzon hammered down 17 kills and 10 digs while Jem Ferrer tossed in 30 excellent sets for the Perlas Spikers.
Royse Tubino led the Lady Troopers with 21 points, including two blocks and two service aces and seven digs while Jovelyn Gonzaga had four blocks for a 20-point outing, to go with 27 digs and 13 receptions.
Pacifictown-Army fell in a tie with Air Force at 6-7, two-and-a-half games behind Motolite (9-5) in the race for the last semifinals berth.
The Bacolod doubleheader capped the PVL in Bacolod festivities which includes a Youth Festival under-12 tournament last week, a seminar conducted by Creamline coach Tai Bundit and coach Jerry Yee of PetroGazz, and mall visits by the teams at the Ayala Capitol over the weekend.
