SINGAPORE --- Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno exchanged high-fives after assuring the Philippines another gold and silver medals after winning their respective semifinals matches in women's 9-ball singles Monday.
Shifting to talks about their showdown on Tuesday afternoon, Amit joked of a strategy she’ll do against her compatriot and her Pan Pacific Hotel roommate.
"Lalasingin ko siya, lalagyan ko ng alak yung tubig niya para akalain niya tubig lang. Hindi joke lang," said Amit with a laugh in a light moment during her postgame interview inside the OCBC Arena Hall 4 here.
Both Pinays hurdled their opponents with Amit cruising to a 7-2 win over Myanmar’s Aye Mi Aung while Centeno took a close 7-5 victory over Thailand’s Siraphat Chitchomnart.
It will be their third faceoff after splitting their last two head-to-heads where Centeno won over the former world women’s pool champion in last year’s Philippine National Games.
Amit, who was with Centeno the whole time during her interview in the mixed zone, said that they’ll take the gold medal game as a normal match.
"Di ko alam e. Ano bang gagawin natin bukas?," said Amit looking at Centeno.
"Wala, normal lang. practice-practice tapos laru-laro," she added.
"Laro lang kami," the very shy 15-year-old Centeno butted in.
"Oo. Laro lang tapos kung sino ang mabigyan ng mas magandang break e di siya ang ang magu-gold," Amit continued.
With wide smiles on their faces the two horse around and were very game when asked to pose like combat fighters.
