Inverted Philippine flag a supplier error - Juico
"The inverted Philippine flag is a supplier error which is being corrected. It was stitched on in just a few competition uniforms. This minor lapse should not detract from the fact that our Athletics team is performing in an outstanding manner and is doing the country proud." -- PATAFA President Philip Juico.

The Philippine track and field team has an impressive start in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore on Tuesday, getting three golds on the first day of the athletics competition care of Caleb Stuart in the men's hammer throw, Eric Cray in the men's 100 meter dash and Kayla Richardson in the women's 100 meter dash.

However, the Philippine team was caught in a bit of controversy as some athletes' jerseys had an inverted Philippine flag on display. The red side was visibly on top of the jerseys of Cray and Richardson and many wondered if it was deliberate.  Usually when the red side is on top, it signifies that the country is at war.

Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA) President Philip Juico however was quick to address the issue.

"The inverted Philippine flag is a supplier error which is being corrected. It was stitched on in just a few competition uniforms. This minor lapse should not detract from the fact that our Athletics team is performing in an outstanding manner and is doing the country proud," said Juico in a statement.
