We cannot afford to lose -- Gorayeb
Putting their first game jitters aside, the Pinay squad now need to win all their remaining matches to advance in the semifinals.

SINGAPORE --- The Philippine women’s volleyball coach Roger Gorayeb said that they have no one to blame but themselves after their 22-25, 20-25, 14-25 loss to the Indonesians at the start of the 28th Southeast Asian Games event at the OCBC Arena Hall 2 here Wednesday.

It’s not about Indonesia fielding an allegedly hermaphrodite player Aprilia Manganang or that their opponents were stronger than them.

Gorayeb admitted that they didn’t play the way they were supposed to play.

The mentor, however, said that inexperience did them in since it is the country’s first participation in the biennial meet after a decade of absence.

Putting their first game jitters aside, the Pinay squad now need to win all their remaining matches to advance in the semifinals.

They will take on Malaysia on Thursday and the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games runner-up Vietnam on Saturday.
