The Filipino sepak takraw squad fell short in a late third set collapse against Myanmar.
SINGAPORE --- The Philippine sepak takraw team threw away a golden opportunity Monday night in a late third set collapse and watched in pain as Myanmar completed a come-from-behind, 20-22, 21-13, 21-16, win in the men’s doubles final held at the Singapore Expo Hall 1 here.
Jason Huerte and Emmanuel Escote squandered a 12-9 lead in the third set with the match tied at one set apiece as the pair of Aung Myo Swe and Zaw Latt rallied with an 8-2 run to turn the tide with a 17-14 advantage.
The Filipinos drew close, 16-17, Latt answered with a spike followed by another point from Myanmar for a 19-16 lead.
Ortueste was short in his serve that went straight to the net as Myamar celebrates in reaching match point.
Latt finished the match off winning against Ortouste in the net as the Filipinos bow their heads and settle for a silver.
