Philippines bows to Vietnam in SEA Games men's football

The Philippine men's football team absorbed their second straight loss in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games men's football tournament, bowing to Vietnam, 0-4, Sunday evening at the Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
The Pinoys managed to keep the game tight for the early part of the first half, but the tide shifted in Vietnam's favor after Nguyen Phuong broke the deadlock in the 37th minute.
It didn't take long for Vietnam to double their advantage just before halftime, courtesy of a conversion from Vu Van Thanh.
Vietnam didn't let up in the second half, as Nguyen Van Toan added to their cushion with a 50th minute strike.
The final blow came from Ho Tuan Tai with at conversion with a minute left in regulation to bring the final tally up to 4-0 in favor of the Group B leaders.
The Philippines falls to one win and two losses for three points in three matches played, dropping down to fourth place in Group B.
Vietnam improves to three wins in three matches for nine points.
Thailand is the next challege for the Pinoy squad. They face off on Tuesday, August 22 at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium.
