Philippines two wins away from 12th straight gold medal
Gilas Pilipinas returns to action in Kuala Lumpur Friday and the men's national team will take on Singapore in the knockout semifinals.

The Philippines' journey to a 12th straight basketball gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games is more than halfway done.

Gilas Pilipinas returns to action in Kuala Lumpur Friday and the men's national team will take on Singapore in the knockout semifinals.

Following a tough first outing against Thailand, the Philippines has been an absolute force in the biennial meet, winning its last two games by a combined 127 points to top Group A.

Taking first place in its bracket means that Gilas takes on the no. 2 team from Group B and that is Singapore who finished with a 2-1 record behind Indonesia.

The Singaporeans beat  Vietnam in a knockout to arrange the Gilas Pilipinas matchup. Indonesia will take on Thailand in the other semis pairing.

The Gilas Pilipinas-Singapore semis clash will tip off at 5:00 p.m.
