Nationals to undergo stacked training itinerary

The Philippine national women’s volleyball team has a very busy schedule in its Thailand training camp which includes series of tune-up games against team’s from the region’s powerhouse and one of Japan’s top club team.
The first batch of the PHI team arrived in Bangkok Saturday afternoon for a 12-day training camp before travelling to Nakhon Ratchasima for the first leg of the inaugural Southeast Asian Grand Prix starting Sept. 20.
Head coach Shaq Delos Santos opened the training at FIVB-Development Center light volleyball drills and strength conditioning Sunday.
“Happy kami kasi makaka-start na kami ng training namin which is tagal na namin gusto mangyari,” said Delos Santos.
The Nationals will play Thailand's U23 national team for friendly matches on Sept. 9 and Sept. 11. Thailand’s powerhouse senior will play host to the Filipinas on Sept. 10 at the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Gym.
On Sept. 12, Bangkok University will play against the Nationals and on Sept. 15, the Filipinas will face Japan's V-League runner-up Toray Arrows, who also bagged the championship of 2018-19 All-Japan Kurowashiki tournament.
Already in Thailand are skipper Aby Marano, Fil-American spiker Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mylene Paat, Majoy Baron, Ces Molina, Roselyn Doria, Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado.
Other members of the squad namely Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Maddie Madayag, Eya Laure, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Iris Tolenada are set to join the team on Sept. 15 in the team’s first step in its buildup for the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila in November.
