Pinay spikers bow down to Thai National squad

The Philippine national women’s volleyball team played five sets against powerhouse Thailand but only came up winning one frame on Tuesday at the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Gym.
The host team, which has been lording it over in the Southeast Asian Games since 1995, demolished the 10-woman Pinay squad, 25-12, 25-19, 25-12, 25-21, 9-15, in the Nationals’ second tune-up match of their 12-day training camp.
A day before, the Filipinas suffered a 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 13-15, loss to Thailand’s U-23 team as the Nationals build-up for the ASEAN Grand Prix in Nakhon Ratchasima on Sept. 20.
The PHI team will again face Thailand's U-23 team on Wednesday. On Sept. 12, Bangkok University will play the Nationals and on Sept. 15, the Filipinas will face Japan's V-League runner-up Toray Arrows, who also bagged the championship of 2018-19 All-Japan Kurowashiki tournament.
Already in Thailand are skipper Aby Marano, Fil-American spiker Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mylene Paat, Majoy Baron, Ces Molina, Roselyn Doria, Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado.
Other members of the squad namely Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Maddie Madayag, Eya Laure and Jovelyn Gonzaga are set to join the team on Sept. 15 in the team’s first step in its build-up for the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila in November.
