LAST DANCE? Castro unretires to reinforce Gilas in SEA Games

Jayson Castro is unretiring from international play for a second time.

The Blur is back to reinforce Gilas Pilipinas and he will see action in the 2019 Southeast Asia Games hosted by the Philippines later this year.

Castro didn’s suit up for the national team in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China where Gilas Pilipinas finished dead last.

“I’m proud to announce, we have asked him to come back and join the program and I’m really proud of the fact that he decided to come back to help us out,” head coach Tim Cone said of Castro.

“I think we all know he was one of the big missing links in the last try we had,” he added.

Cone revealed that Castro’s comeback was actually pretty easy.

Coach Tim was supposed to talk to Jayson about the SEA Games but the PBA Board wanted a quick answer and contacted Castro through Chairman Ricky Vargas.

“From what I understand, it was supposed to be me that was gonna ask him, because we knew that he retired,” Cone said of Castro.

“But the Board wanted to know right away so Mr. Vargas called him and said we’d like you to unretire and come back. He said right away he’ll do it,” coach Tim added.
