SEA Games: Muscle Man Manuel will be a weapon for Gilas
Manuel should be in line for his first-ever stint with Gilas considering he was personally handpicked by head coach Tim Cone himself.

Vic Manuel has been added to the 15-man Gilas Pilipinas team for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games as announced last week.

Manuel should be in line for his first-ever stint with Gilas considering he was personally handpicked by head coach Tim Cone himself.

That’s pretty much his guarantee to make the final team for the SEA Games later this year.

“Vic was one of my personal choices,” Cone said.

“I think he'll do really well in that level of play. Whether he can go out and bang on Jokic and Serbia, that's a different question but he can go out and bang in Southeast Asia. He can really be effective,” coach Tim added.

When healthy, Manuel is one of the premier scoring forwards in the PBA.

With that in mind, Cone is confident the Muscle Man can dominate in the ASEAN level and that’s wh he put him on his national team.

“I'm excited about Vic because I think Vic would be a dominant player in the Southeast Asian level. He'd be able to take guys in. He's got that sweet jump shot. That's the reason why we put him there,” Cone said.

“He's tough-minded and he can intimidate people. That's what we're looking for right now. We're not looking for the big names. We're looking for guys who we think are gonna be particularly effective in this kind of tournament,” he added.
