Yulo, Petecio to receive P1 Million incentives each

Gymnast Carlos Yulo and female boxer Nesthy Petecio are set to receive a hefty P1 million incentives each after bringing honor to the country in the world stage.
Yulo bagged the gold medal in the men’s floor exercise Saturday in the 49th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships at Hans Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart, Germany. Yulo also qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics joining pole vaulter EJ Obiena.
Less than 24 hours after Yulo’s heroics, Petecio punched her way to claiming the gold medal after beating hometown bet Liudmila Vorontsova in the featherweight division final of the 2019 Aiba Women’s World Boxing Championships last Saturday in Ulan-Ude, Russia.
Yulo will receive P500,000 under the Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act and additional P500,000 reward as approved by the Philippine Sports Commission board Monday.
Petecio will receive P1-million for her gold while another boxer Eumir Marcial will receive P500,000 for earning silver at world championships.
Upon the PSC’s initiative, Obiena will pocket P250,000 for qualifying for the 2020 Olympics.
The athletes are set receive their checks in a ceremony in Malacañang on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Senator Sonny Angara is set to file two resolutions congratulating Yulo and Petecio.
