The Philippine Women’s Football National Team managed a 0-0 draw against reigning bronze medalist Myanmar to open their Women’s Football Tournament campaign in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Tuesday evening at the Biñan Stadium in Biñan, Laguna.
With every match crucial in the six-team tournament, both sides fought hard to find the back of the net but neither side could come up with a conversion. Striker Cam Rodriguez had a pair of near makes, but ultimately could not break the deadlock.
With the draw, the Filipinas and the Cambodians split points in Group A on opening day.
The Filipinas can go for their first win against Malaysia on December 2nd in Biñan.
In the earlier match in Group B, also at the Biñan Stadium, defending SEA Games football champions Vietnam and reigning silver medalists Thailand battled to a 1-1 draw.
Duong Thi Van opened the scoring for the reigning gold medalists, but Taneekarn Dangda found the equalizer in the 88th minute.
